About 625 technical officials have been accredited to officiate in the 28 sports during the Pacific Games.
An officer from the Games Organising Committee said all international and provincial technical officials had been selected and they would be accommodated at the Games Village for the duration of the competition. The official said technical officials would not be on allowance but would be assisted by other specific sports volunteers to run the competitions. “They won’t be paid any allowance but apart from being accommodated at the Games Village, they will be given uniforms so that they are differentiated from other general workforce, volunteers and athletes,” the committee spokesperson said. Volleyball is the sport with many technical officials while table tennis and squash would have less number of technical officials. SOURCE: THE NATIONAL
