Nearly half a billion kina in contracts were signed for the construction of infrastructures for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.
The signings were made between the State and four contractors at Government House. They were officiated by Governor General Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio. Ground work for the 2015 Pacific Games has commenced in the nation’s capital. Its catch up as there is an element of urgency. Minister for Sports & Pacific Games Justin Tkatchenko stated that the country is behind schedule. Three key infrastructures; The Games Village at the University of Papua New Guinea, The Taurama Aquatic Centre, and the Sir John Guise Stadium are now under construction and refurbishment. Contractors Curtain Brothers, China Railway Construction and Engineering, Fletcher Morobe, and Ferrum Engineering singed the agreements with Governor General Sir Michael Ogio. Over K440 million is split among the contractors to provide building materials for the Aquatic Centre and Games Village. The buildings are expected to be completed before the end of next year.
