Our Men's Rugby Sevens Team has stepped up in their training and are well on track for the Pacific Games come July. Head Coach Billy Rapilla is very confident with the current players and talent in the team, and they have the potential to go all the way by making it into the Gold medal playoff.
"Potentially on the Team that we have they are capable of getting into the Gold medal playoffs and it all boils down to how we prepare and how mentally focused we are to achieve our Aim," says Rapilla. When asked how the men are preparing to counter the class of Pacific Island sevens giants in the likes of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, Rapilla said that with playing at home will play a big part to how well they execute their game plan against them and is confident with the style of football they want to play. "We have generally a pretty fast side and that's something that we will be looking at to utilize as much as possible and using the whole width of the field is going to be a concentration on how well we use our skills to get that continuity on the field going," says Rapilla. Our Men's Rugby Sevens team won Bronze at the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia and are aiming to get Gold come July.
