THE Pacific Games Village operations manager Adelbert Gangai yesterday confirmed that a training schedule for the visiting Pacific athletes would start tomorrow.
Gangai said they had facilities that have been scheduled for whatever training the athletes wished to have and it would be ready by July 1. “We have a list of facilities, wherever they want train and for whatever sport,” Gangai said. “Training facilities will be ready by July 1 for teams to use. “Just like the sports schedule, we have a training schedule, by teams, what particular time and venue — it’s not just an ad hoc thing where you just walk in and train. “It’s managed.” The training facilities would include, gym, swimming pool and courts and fields. During the opening ceremony of the Games Village yesterday, some athletes mentioned that they needed to access to training facilities for their preparations. Gangai confirmed that there were more than 200 technical officials and athletes at the Games Village. “The only athletes would be Team PNG and the rest would be 50-60 officials (chef de missions and managers) and forward parties having their delegations registered. He said registration was going smoothly.
