2015 Pacific Games Committee has a mammoth task ahead to host the biggest event in the nation’s history. This time the Committee is optimistic it will be bigger and better than the 1991 South Pacific Games. Community Awareness had begun including the host venues. Chief Executive Officer, Peter Stewart told EMTV’s John Eggins in the current affair program, Tok Piksa recently that 2015 Pacific Games will be delivered on a high note. Mr. Stewart spoke of using local knowledge, talents and experience to make the 2015 games as unique to leave a legacy in years to come. Peter Stewart is not new to organizing events like this. Whilst this will be his first Pacific Games tasked as CEO, his experiences from other international events such as the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, multi-sport games –the Australasian Public Sector Games in 1998 and 2000, and the 2009 Paralympics Youth Games, put him in good stead for 2015. Stewart had overseen 1500 events annually and managed some of the biggest open space venues in Australia. More than three thousand volunteers will be needed to deliver the games on time to all parts of the country and the world. Currently there are less than 200 people working in the Committee. The Committee has been carrying out community awareness to engage views and involve the community on how they will participate in the games. There will be live sites in Public areas around the country for people to watch the games. Today marks 678 days to go as the countdown continues. Comments are closed.
