Team Fiji’s Chef de Mission to the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, Cathy Wong has given the thumbs up to all arrangements in place for athletes ahead of the Games. According to FASANOC, the Fijian advance team is receiving a lot of help from the Fijian community there to set up the office and common room. “They actually staying in the Games village, they said it’s very nice but it’s very hot also and obviously a lot hotter than it is here in Fiji I guess because the Games village has just been built. There’s not a lot of grass growing around so the place is pretty dusty. They’ve also asked us to tell the athletes to be sure to take the malaria tablets and to also take a lot of insect repellent,” said Lorraine Mar , FASANOC CEO Mar adds that it’s important for athletes to rest well and take a lot of fluid while in PNG. “The Games village is starting to fill up, the contingents are arriving the Team PNG is already in the village so it’s fully operational. The dining room is operational and the food is very good. It’s just a matter of our team getting there and then settling in. The weather is a lot hotter than here so Cathy’s warned us about that we rest well,” she said. FijiOne
