SOUTH Pacific Brewery general manager, Stan Joyce is confident Team PNG will dominate next month’s Mini Pacific Games.
Joyce made the statement yesterday while announcing the brewery’s K100,000 sponsorship for Team PNG preparations. The Mini Games will be held in Wallis and Futuna from September 2-12. “Our support goes back to 1963 and we are pleased to announce our sponsorship for Team PNG this year as they represent our country abroad,” he said. “ I have no doubt the preparations in sending Team PNG is on track and I am confident that we will be dominant at the games,” Joyce said. “We believe and hope that through our support, we can encourage young people to play sports and be better citizens of the country.” Team PNG chef de mission Richard Kassman thanked the brewery for its continued support to the PNG Olympic Committee in sending Team PNG to international sporting events. “Having such a sponsorship is greatly appreciated as it will help us send our biggest ever Team PNG to the Mini Pacific Games,” Kassman said. Team PNG consists of 191 athletes, including officials, who will be taking part in eight sports – athletics, va’a, weightlifting, sailing, beach volleyball, taekwondo, seven rugby (men’s) and volleyball.
