THE Pacific Games Organising Committee have added an additional programme into the Games schedule to have pastors opening and closing the Pacific Games with prayers.
The 2015 Pacific Games Pastoral Care Programme under the theme “Unity is the name of our Games’ was launched on last Tuesday in Port Moresby. Chief executive officer Peter Stewart, chairperson Emma Waiwai, PNG Council of Churches chairman and Anglican Bishop of Port Moresby Bishop Denny Guka, deputy chairman of Council of Churches and Archbishop of Port Moresby Diocese Archbishop John Ribat and chariman of Body of Christ Reverend Joseph Walters were present at the launch. Waiwai said there would be pastors available before, during and after the Games to pray for the contingents of all the 24 countries that will be participating in the 2015 Pacific Games from July 4-18. She said prayer would be included with sports, as it was a part of Papua New Guinea lifestyle as a Christian nation.
