ADVANCED team members from Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Guam, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga who moved into the Games Village since last week are so happy at the Games Village.
Team PNG members also moved in. But despite the late registration and some administrative issues that still needed to be attended to, the teams told Post-Courier yesterday that the facilities were "superb", the food in the dining hall "awesome" and the whole set up was classic and to international standard. The Post-Courier yesterday toured all blocks that are already occupied by the Pacific team members. There are 10 blocks of buildings at the Games Village for accommodation and has three wings each. Team PNG is accommodated in Block 10 A Wing, Team Tahiti is in Block 5 A and B wings, the Cook Islands is in Block 4, sharing the wing with Team Fiji. Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Palau, Samoa and Fiji officials spoken to yesterday said the Village was very nice although some sections were still being put together. They also said that there were some issues that needed to be addressed by the Games Organising Committee otherwise they were impressed that things were in order and they could not have asked for more. "These are top of the range facilities that we couldn’t ask for more, the food is awesome and the weather has been so hot but the people have been so friendly so far to us," one Pacific Island team official said. During the routine check yesterday, Team PNG were meeting outside their block yesterday, Team Tahiti was working on their schedule and Team Cook Islands was sorting out their rooms. Post Courier
