THE PNG Pepes quietly left the country on Friday for their Gold Coast netball camp in preparation for 2015 Pacific Games next month.
PNG Netball Federation president Julianne Leka-Maliaki told The National over the weekend that the Unaisi Rokoura-coached team left after obtaining their visas. The Pepes had delayed their travel due to visa problem. It is understood the team management had not submitted their travel documents early to the Australian High Commission for processing. Despite being late by a week, coach Rokoura is adamant that her girls will give their best in their two week camp in Gold Coast’s Runaway Bay Sport Institute. Veteran campaigner Lua Rikis, who will play her fourth Pacific Games next month, leads the team. The lanky Central lady will not be alone in the netball team as her elder sister, Winnie Mavara, will skipper the team during the two-week Pacific Games. Apart from Rikis and Mavara, there are other season campaigners including Gamini Koroka, Kilala Owen, Raka Nope and Richanda Kassman. Pepes – Shooters: Tiata Baldwin, Lua Rikis, Jepeth Tulapi, Heroni Daera, Lydia Rosa Seseare, Gamini Koroka; Defense: Kilala Owen, Raka Nope, Margaret Eka, Susan Wellington, Courtney Abel; Mid-court: Winnie Mavara, Jacklyn Lahari, Nerrie Adula, Shanna Dringo and Richanda Kassman.
