PORT MORESBY, July 15 – Papua New Guinea’s men’s beach volleyball team beat Fiji in straight sets in the round-robin matches at the BSP Stadium on Wednesday.
Richard Kilarupa (PNG) and Moha Mea (PNG), who are first-time players in beach volleyball at Port Moresby 2015, swept aside Fiji’s Suka and Raratabu. Kilarupa said the PNG team gained confidence during the match and pledged to perform to the best of their ability in the remaining matches. “We are eagerly looking forward to taking on any team that comes our way in this competition,” Kilarupa said. “The match against Fiji was very challenging because they are known for this game, but I am very excited that we won this match.” The team captain said taking part in beach volleyball at Port Moresby 2015 was a learning experience. “This is my first time to play beach volleyball,” Kilarupa added. “I have experience in indoor volleyball, but I have tried my best to put into action what my team coach and trainers have taught me. Indeed it is very helping.” By Tumbe Sam, Games News Services GNS ts/jc/kd
