Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is optimistic Papua New Guinea can use the 2015 Pacific Games as a benchmark to hosting bigger sporting events like the Commonwealth Games.
Mr. O’Neill gave an assurance the games will be delivered on time and will be bigger and better than before. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said in a recent interview with EMTV, PNG can host the Commonwealth Games. This comes after his observation on the preparation of the 2015 Pacific Games. According to the Prime Minister, preparations are well on target. O’Neill says the initial work is two years behind schedule, but the construction work has already picked up the pace, installing confidence that the games will be delivered on time. Venues, Infrastructure and Events Committee are both on and off the scene making sure all construction phases are well covered. The other arm of the Pacific Games Authority, the Pacific Games Committee is working on the mascot, live sites and carrying out awareness for all Papua New Guineans to be part of the games.
