PNG Rugby Football League players have a greater chance to play for a PNG side in the Queensland Rugby League in 2014 season.
The Queensland State of Australia is known for developing raw talent into keen footballers who make their mark in the national side, as well as on the international scene. Many well-known footballers started at an early school age and developed over the years. Rugby League is known as a national sport in PNG, and has come a long way for players and PNGRFL to develop the sport to where it is today. However there is a mammoth task ahead. Today, PNGRFL announced PNG’s entry into the Intrust Super League Cup. PNG will compete against the Queens land’s hot favorites, including Northern Pride, Mackay Cutters Football Clubs. Players taking part in Digicel Cup, Zone trials and Schoolboys Rugby League program will have a greater chance to book a spot for PNG side. PNGRFL gives opportunity to Papua New Guineans to send in their favorite players’ names to be included in the team as well as the name of the side. Venue for PNG side to host this match will be Kalabond in Kokopo, East New Britain while PRL going major upgrade. Meanwhile, Team Kumul beat Scotland in their World Cup pre-match, hinting at more wins to come. The launching saw all teams in their national colors ready to battle it out. For Team Kumul, the red, black and gold, will be spotted among 14 teams as the country will watch the Kumuls when they go head to head with France.
