TEAM Fiji has sent an SOS to sponsors FIJI Water to supply the team in Papua New Guinea with drinking water.
FASANOC president Joe Rodan said safe drinking was a real concern for the athletes. "Our advance party to Port Moresby, consisting of the chef de mission, Cathy Wong and administrator Jayne Niubalavu, have been in contact with us, having spent their first day, yesterday(Sunday) in Port Moresby," Rodan said. "Cathy has sent us an SOS in regards to bottled water. The dining room is open now and contingents are arriving, with Team PNG already in the village. "However, it appears that the bottled water sponsor for the Games, is not in a position to supply the water as yet and Cathy reports that many things are behind schedule at the moment. "She and Jayne are currently boiling water for drinking!" Rodan said they discussed matters with FIJI Water and have asked for drinking water. "Cathy has expressed a real concern for the lack of "safe" drinking water for Team Fiji. "This is an SOS for help," he added. "With the team size of 453, I am hesitant to do the maths on our requirement. Team Fiji has a 20ft container, provided by the Fiji community there, for storage so that will not be a problem." The first batch of athletes leave for PNG this evening in the first of the chartered Fiji Airways flights from Nadi. Fiji Times

PNG must not give even our bottled water to Fiji.Let them sit and wait for their water to come before they can start their games. Timid.
