𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒂, 𝟐𝟓𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 (𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆) National female athlete Helen Aumae Boso is the newly appointed Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High-Performance Athlete Advisory Group (AAG) Chair. The formation of the AAG is to ensure national athletes are well centered and performance driven, while having their voice heard within sports. Helen, a national athlete in multiple sports is thrilled to be part of it the establishment of the AAG. “I’m very thankful and at the same time very humble to be appointed as Chair for the Athlete Advisory Group at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS),” Aumae Boso said She says that with this avenue, it’s a positive milestone and first of its kind to be introduced - to form a stronger platform for athletes to provide an input in elite sport strategy in the country. “From an athlete perspective I’m very thankful also that SINIS has provided this avenue where we will able to get in concerns of athletes through their experiences,” she says.
“So, I think it gives an opportunity to be able to actually share athlete’s experience, challenges and also some rewarding feedbacks and how it will help other athletes to better their performances representing the country regionally and internationally competitions. “Teamwork is crucial when it comes to success on and off the field. I am proud to join the AAG, and look forward to spending more time with current and former athletes to help solidify our sports reputation. I hope to have a meaningful impact on all aspects of sports, both forward facing and behind the scenes." Aumae Boso will be responsible to involve with multiple aspects, operations by engaging meetings that helps to inform strategies on how best to support athletes in making right decisions and best to deliver fit for educational programs and prevention initiatives involving athletes AAG has a clear objective of ensuring that the athletes have an avenue to provide input into the ongoing development and review of elite sport strategies. It is a volunteer role for any elite athlete who wants to contribute positively through their experience in sport/their career. In acknowledging the new Chair, SINIS Wellbeing & Lifestyle Performance Coordinator Roslyn Bibimauri Ramo congratulated her, saying that it’s a fitting role as one of the senior female athlete. The AAG is now looking to appoint 14 members, from across all National Federations, to capture a diverse and broad views. To apply athletes can complete an Expression of Interest Form to be hand-delivered at SINIS High Performance office, Ranadi or online 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐@𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔.𝒄𝒐𝒎.𝒔𝒃. Or collect it from SINIS HP Head Office reception desk. Note that ONLY athletes who have represented the Solomon Islands in the past 3 years may apply and MUST be more than eighteen (18) years of age. Male and female athletes are encouraged to apply, as well as Para sport athletes.
